The Minister of Education and Welfare of the Embassy of India discussed the residence and education conditions provided for Indian citizens in Belgorod with the students and the university administration.
Mr. Subrat Das, the Minister of Education and Welfare of the Embassy of India in Russia, met with the Indian students studying at Belgorod State University as part of his business visit to Belgorod. Currently, 81 full-time students from the Republic of India are educated at the university on a paid basis, and over half of them study in English. 53 students stay in Belgorod at the moment, most of them are enrolled to Medical Institute.
The meeting was held as an equal dialogue in English. Young people were able to ask the Ambassador questions of concern. Mr. Subrat Das, in turn, was interested in their impressions of the university and the educational programs provided. Also, the questions covered their lifestyle in Belgorod, intercultural relations, residence conditions at the dormitories.
The Ambassador also met with the administration of Belgorod State University and discussed issues ranging from tuition fees for Indian students to security guarantees. The meeting was attended by Evgeniya Karlovskaya, the Acting Rector of BelSU, Vladislav Kuchmisty, the Acting Vice-Rector for International Cooperation, Victoria Platoshina, the curator of the Indian students community, Kumar Abhay, a BelSU graduate and the Ambassador in India.
Evgeniya Karlovskaya pointed out that feedback from students was very important for both sides and could be considered as an indicator.
The Acting Rector also added that there had been a great demand from Indian students for the programs related to pharmacy, biotechnology and engineering.
The Indian students presented memorable gifts to the Ambassador – a book entitled “Colours of the World”, their general photo at BelSU and a traditional robe.
