Samarkand hosted a medical forum aimed at further cooperation promotion between Uzbekistan and Russia, including academic exchange in medical and pharmaceutical sectors of both countries.
The forum was opened by Amrillo Inoyatov, the Minister of Healthcare of Uzbekistan making the report on “New Uzbekistan - New Healthcare” and Mikhail Murashko, the Minister of Healthcare of Russia presenting the report on “Cooperation in the Name of Health”.
Belgorod State University Medical Institute was represented at the forum by Nina Zhernakova, the Deputy Director for Research and Internationalization and the Head of Family Medicine Department, and Elena Zhilyakova, the Head of Pharmaceutical Technology Department.
Participation in the forum was a significant event in terms of development and strengthening further cooperation in the field of medical and pharmaceutical education between two countries.
The programme included a plenary session and four workshops. The most interesting section was “Transformation of Medical Education, Training of Highly Qualified Medical Personnel”. The main topic concerned developing new competencies of the future medical and pharmaceutical specialists in the context of global transformation of education.
The experts discussed ways of improvement of the joint educational programmes implemented by medical and pharmaceutical universities of Russia and Uzbekistan. The work at the sections was focused on the issue of academic indicators of sustainability of medical universities as a basis for international rankings.
According to Nina Zhernakova, during the forum a preliminary agreement was reached with Samarkand State Medical University to develop a joint education program in General Medicine and Pharmacy. The parties also covered the issue of teaching staff mobility as part of BelSU educational programs in General Medicine at Medical Institute and in Pharmacy at the Institute of Pharmacy, Chemistry and Biology.
The forum was attended by Tashkent State Institute of Pharmacy (TajPharm) – a BelSU partner, which will start implementing some joint educational programmes with Belgorod State University in the 2023-2024 academic year. Those programmes have been also of high demand among school applicants from Uzbekistan.
