The joint Chinese-Russian laboratory at Belgorod Institute of Food Sciences in China will work on four research areas based on the expertise of BelSU and Dezhou University.
Belgorod State University delegation headed by Evgeniya Karlovskaya, the Acting Rector, participated in the ceremony of opening the Laboratory of Agrofood Sciences and Technologies at Belgorod Institute of Food Sciences in Dezhou. Igor Morgulov, the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the China, congratulated the administration of Belgorod and Dezhou Universities on the new project.
The joint laboratory was established in accordance with the China's national strategy for revival of rural areas, which focuses on the comprehensive development of Shandong Province.
Research conducted at the laboratory will cover the entire food industry chain - from development of agricultural and animal food raw materials to special food technologies, food preservation technologies and food safety testing, as well as promotion and application of Chinese and Russian food processing technologies.
According to Evgeniya Karlovskaya, the new laboratory will be used for both practical training of students and scientific research, including projects implemented under the world-class REC “Innovative Solutions in Agri-Business”, involving Belgorod State University as a base institution.
Also as part of the visit to China, BelSU delegation visited a number of pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies located in Pingyuan Province, including Shandong Fuyang Biotechnology Co, Shandong Yaoshi Pharmaceutical Co and Shandong Chenghui Shuangda Pharmaceutical Co.
Evgeniya Karlovskaya noted that those companies would serve as a good internship base for students of Belgorod Institute of Food Sciences.
