The Institute of Cross-cultural Communication and International Relations of the NRU BSU hosted the 16th International Student Research-to-Practice Conference “The Role and Place of the Russian Language in the Modern World”.
This year the annual International Student Research-to-Practice Conference “The Role and Place of the Russian Language in the Modern World” gathered about 100 participants, providing an ability for communication and experience exchange for students making their first steps in the scientific field. The representatives of the conference were the students from India, China, Vietnam, Argentina, Iraq, Afghanistan, Uzbekistan, as well as the students from universities of different cities and regions of the Russian Federation. International students spoke about the demand for Russian language experts and current conditions of studying Russian language in other countries.
The speakers shared effective strategies for studying foreign languages, professional communication, intercultural and customs awareness, as well as the urgent issues of cross-cultural communication. Ksenia Bunina and Victoria Kutelia, students of the Institute of Cross-cultural Communication and International Relations of the NRU BSU, made the reports on the issues of using artificial intelligence in teaching a foreign language.
Olga Dekhnich, ICCIR Deputy Director for Research Work, noted the relevance of the subject matter of the conference and wished all the participants every success in their scientific research. Lillia Petrova, Associate Professor of the Department of Russian Language, Professional Speech and Cross-cultural Communication, emphasized the importance of the annual scientific event.
“The goal of our conference is to encourage students to take their first steps in scientific research in Russian – the language that they study, to keep their appreciation for the language and gradually move towards greater scientific accomplishments,” said Lillia Petrova.
One of the leading topics was the cross-disciplinary resource of the Russian language. The participants vigorously debated such topics as the difficulties arising in the study of Russian as a foreign language and ways of their overcoming, the use of innovative technologies in the educational process and, of course, the role of the Russian language in a constantly changing world.
