For the academic year 2024, BeSU Digital department widens the amount of vocational training programmes up to ten and reports enrolment of more than 2,500 students from BelSU and partner universities.
Belgorod State University has completed the recruitment campaign for the Digital department programmes. Head of the department Vladimir Lomakin says for the academic year 2024 the Department offers ten training programmes and total 2,589 students are going to study on them, including upper-year students from the partnering Saratov State Law Academy and Belgorod State University of Arts and Culture.
Web Programming for Occupational Purposes is the most popular training program among students, with the and the Department enrolled on it 1,082 students were. They are going to master the basics of programming for web development and acquire the practical skills necessary for successful advancement in IT. The program includes acquiring HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP, main concepts of front-end and back-end development and the basics of how web pages and web applications work.
513 students are going to study at the Information Systems in Occupational Activities Programme. The program develops the skills in information system use for students’ professional needs in company record keeping, focusing on its specific features and activities. It includes the mastering of the Enterprise Accounting configuration on the 1C: Enterprise platform, as well as applied 1C programming and administration. By the end of the course, the students develop an accounting system for the chosen area of activities.
The third most popular program is Artificial Intelligence Technologies for Occupational Activities, with this year’s 319 students. The programme gives training to develop the skills of AI integration into various fields. Students will master main concepts and methods of artificial intelligence and machine learning and will know how to apply them to improve various business processes. Acquiring the basics of Python programming will provide the students with skills needed to develop and implement AI solutions. The Programme’s key element is neural network programming. Students are going to learn how ro employ them to design and optimize models for practical problem solving. The Programme gives a particular attention to information protection and information security to ensure the safe use of AI technologies within the occupational environment.
190 students chose to study at the Virtual and Augmented Reality Technologies Programme, which covers various aspects of using virtual and augmented reality in professional activities. The Programme consists of lectures, practice classes and project work – everything the students might need to gain real experience in using VR/AR technologies for their professional needs.
The Web Application Development Programme with 113 students enrolled provides for a deep dive into the web programming basics and modern trends. Students are going to cement their skills in HTML, CSS and JavaScript and expand their knowledge of modern web technologies, including frameworks and libraries. Within this course, the students master the creation of web applications, from interface design to server logic implementation. Particular attention is given to studying and applying modern programming languages: JavaScript and their frameworks. By the course completion, the students will create functional and interactive web applications that meet modern standards.
81 students of the Expert Forecasting of Economic Indicators Based on Big Data Processing training programme are going to master the development of applied algorithms, building applied statistical and econometric models. They are also going to acquire practical skills for successful forecasting based on statistical and econometric models, multi-criteria decision making and conducting intelligent data analysis for the social and economic sphere.
This year, 92 students chose the Data Analysis and Forecasting for the Social and Humanitarian Spheres Programme. The Programme develops critical thinking, problem-solving skills and covers modern methods and tools for data mining, including mathematical statistics and R programming.
82 students will study at the Creation and Use of Computer Paralinguistics of Speech in Social and Humanitarian Areas Programme, which focuses on the AI technologies employed for the analysis of non-verbal aspects of speech. The students will acquire skills needed to identify emotional and behavioural characteristics of people based on their speech signals, which is especially relevant across the social and humanitarian fields. Students will study machine learning methods to know how to effectively fulfil the tasks of paralinguistic analysis. The Programme gives a particular attention to the selection and assessment of whether the speech data is relevant for the analysis to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the results obtained.
80 students applied to the Programme on Creation and Maintenance of Information Systems in the Economy on the 1C:Enterprise platform. This year’s schedule also includes a course on developing mobile applications on the 1C platform.
