The Alexander Gorchakov Public Diplomacy Fund recently conducted a research and educational programme titled “Dialogue for the Future – 2024,” which featured a postgraduate student from Belgorod State University.
Sofia Pazhvak, a Teaching Assistant in the Department of International Relations, Foreign Regional Studies, and Political Science, as well as a fourth-year postgraduate student at BelSU’s Faculty of History and Philology, successfully navigated a competitive selection process to participate in this prestigious programme.
During the educational initiative, leading experts from Russia and abroad – including representatives from China, Thailand, India, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina – engaged in discussions about the current state of international relations. They explored the prospects for establishing a unified continental space characterized by peace, stability, mutual trust, and prosperity in Eurasia, as well as addressing key issues related to global security and economic cooperation. A highlight of the programme was a meeting between participants and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, along with Mikhail Shvydkoy, the special representative of the President of the Russian Federation. During this meeting, they discussed matters pertaining to international cultural cooperation.
A distinctive feature of the 2024 programme was the emphasis on collaborative project work. Participants developed models for future development across four key areas: security, multipolarity, technology, and economics. Sofia Pazhvak contributed to the group focused on forecasting regional and global security and participated in its presentation, sharing her insights from the experience.
‘I was fortunate to be part of the Dialogue, engage with leading experts, and explore various approaches to understanding the emerging world order. I particularly remember my meeting with Soviet and Russian cosmonaut Sergey Krikalev, who shared his thoughts on the common goals that nations can pursue in international space cooperation, even during challenging times,” said Sofia Pazhvak.
