The Academic Council reviewed the outcomes of the Belgorod National Research University development programme for 2024, which operates under the Priority-2030 strategy.
Elena Skripnikova, Vice-Rector for Strategic Development Programmes, delivered a comprehensive report detailing the programme’s achievements. In 2024, the university’s development programme was executed in alignment with both federal and regional strategic priorities. The initiative not only transformed the programme management system but also fostered collaborative projects with industrial partners, enhancing technological readiness. Additionally, the university redefined its educational trajectory to implement a continuous, “seamless” model for training researchers and developers. As part of this effort, BelSU is transitioning to a “Professional Schools” model.
To address the potential risk of staff turnover, the university has initiated several programmes aimed at supporting research teams in key areas. This includes providing intra-university grant support specifically for youth research teams. Research activities at BelSU have aligned with seven national priorities for technological leadership: "New Materials and Chemistry," "New Health Preservation Technologies," "Technological Support for Food Security," "New Nuclear and Energy Technologies," "Data Economy and Digital Transformation of the State," "Bioeconomics," and "Unmanned Aircraft Systems." Additionally, research has been conducted in the areas of "Environmental Well-Being" and "Efficient and Competitive Economy."
Skripnikova emphasized that in 2024, BelSU actively expanded its partnerships with international collaborators as part of its scientific and educational diplomacy efforts.
‘We have established a model of partnership interaction where cooperation in education is complemented by joint scientific events. Agreements have been signed between our university, two other universities, and four Chinese companies involved in food production, agricultural processing, biotechnology, and pharmacy,’ she noted.
The university remains committed to providing high-quality training for professionals needed by the regional economy, particularly in teaching and healthcare sectors, ensuring their employment within local organizations.
Looking ahead, the Vice-Rector outlined key tasks for the university, including redefining its mission, strategy, and development programme to align with national technological leadership projects and establishing comprehensive research and production chains with industrial partners.
