In an engaging initiative under the “Live in Belgorod” project, students from Belgorod National Research University recently embarked on a career-guidance excursion to local hospitals.
Launched at the end of May, the “Live in Belgorod” project aims to connect students from professional educational institutions and universities with employment opportunities in their hometown. The initiative highlights the benefits of both working and enjoying life in Belgorod, fostering a sense of community among young people.
Ilya Dorofeev, head of the youth policy department of the Belgorod administration, shared that over 700 students from Belgorod universities and colleges are expected to participate in this comprehensive program, which includes a total of 20 planned excursions.
“We carefully selected organizations and enterprises to ensure that students find these experiences engaging and informative,” Dorofeev noted.
The project encompasses six key sectors: construction, landscaping, industry, medicine, education, and public administration.
The project's initiators believe that "Live in Belgorod" is a crucial step toward building a positive image of the city among the youth, stimulating professional growth, and strengthening the bond between students and their local community.
The first group to participate in the excursions comprised medical students from the medical college and medical institute. They visited the Regional Cardiac Surgery Centre, where they had the opportunity to interact with healthcare professionals, gain insights into their daily work, and ask questions about their future careers. The visit also included a tour of the Clinical Diagnostic Laboratory at the St. Joasaph Belgorod Regional Clinical Hospital, where future doctors observed first-hand how tests are processed through various stages of research.
During the excursion, Roman Protsenko, the chief physician of St. Joasaph Regional Clinical Hospital and a deputy on the city council, addressed the students. He shared the history of the hospital’s establishment and detailed how high-tech medical care is provided in the region’s leading clinic.
“Thanks to the ‘Live in Belgorod’ project, young people will gain a clear understanding of the advantages of living in our city. They will have the chance to visit healthcare institutions and local enterprises, discovering their achievements and innovations,” Protsenko emphasized.
Additionally, students toured the Children’s City Polyclinic No. 4, which recently opened a new swimming pool for therapeutic gymnastics.
