Belgorod National Research University recently held a vibrant festival to mark the graduation of its inaugural “English Language and Culture of the Peoples of the World” program.
The event, organized by students from the preparatory department of Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), was a delightful celebration for children, showcasing their newfound language skills in an engaging and interactive setting.
Despite their young age, the participants – some as young as seven – demonstrated remarkable progress in English. The students transformed the occasion into an unforgettable adventure, proving that learning a foreign language can be both enjoyable and effective.
Designed by Nadezhda Tarasenko, a candidate of pedagogical sciences and associate professor at BelSU, the program emphasized that mastering English does not have to be daunting. In a short span, children not only grasped essential phrases but also learned to improvise in English, discuss planets, and locate countries on the world map.
The day was filled with interactive games that encouraged children to showcase their knowledge, along with fun competitions featuring amusing challenges. A highlight of the festival was a musical surprise: lively songs and dances that captivated the young audience. The children were especially enchanted by a folk dance performed by students from Turkmenistan, whose bright costumes and rhythmic melodies transported them to a distant land filled with wonder.
The closing ceremony was more than just a farewell to the school year; it symbolized the beginning of a new journey into the rich world of languages and cultures. Events like these spark curiosity, foster respect for diverse traditions, and instil confidence in young learners – showing them that foreign languages are not merely complex rules but gateways to new knowledge, friendships, and adventures.
