Students from the Faculty of History and Philology at Belgorod National Research University, part of the university’s youth studio for scientific and innovative creativity, “Archaeological Headquarters,” showcased their exceptional preparation at the All-Russian Youth Archaeology Championship held in Sevastopol.
The team from at Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), composed of aspiring and practicing archaeologists Sergei Koval, Maxim Levin, Kirill Shlykov, and Anna Nepochatova, participated in a series of lectures and hands-on workshops at the Tauric Chersonesos Historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve. Over several days, they engaged in site exploration and toured the ancient fortified estate of Maslyanaya Gora, where they assessed the monument's technical condition and compiled an official report for the expert committee.
Their hard work paid off as the Belgorod State University team secured first place, outperforming teams from Sevastopol State University and the Sevastopol branch of Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov.
A significant highlight for the Archaeological Headquarters was the signing of a friendship and partnership agreement with the student organization "ArchMusem" from Sevastopol State University. Anna Nepochatova, team captain and head of the Archaeological Headquarters, represented BelSU, while Varvara Bervinova led her Sevastopol counterparts.
The students emphasized that events like these not only broaden their horizons but also provide invaluable experience through lectures on diverse archaeological topics, excursions, and master classes.
