Adventure Awaits: “Backpacking Across Russia” Exhibition Opens at BelSU

The grand opening took place at the History Centre of Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) and featured works by Alexander Ilyin, an Honoured Traveller of Russia and senior lecturer in the Physical Education Department at the Pedagogical Institute. Ilyin, who is also an instructor in mountain, hiking, water, and cycling tourism, is a candidate for Master of Sports in mountain tourism and shooting, and heads the “Condor” hiking club.

The exhibition features stunning photographs capturing moments from expeditions through the Caucasus Mountains and Mount Elbrus, as well as journeys in the Altai Republic, the Republic of Karelia, the Republic of Crimea, and the Belgorod Region. These images convey the beauty of nature and evoke the spirit of adventure that defines these travel routes.

The collection brings together works from numerous expeditions and hikes led by Ilyin and his club. Visitors can admire mountain panoramas, river landscapes, and picturesque hiking routes from across Russia.

Attendees had the unique opportunity to interact with Alexander Ilyin during the event. He shared personal memories from his travels and discussed how nature inspires new heights and discoveries. Colleagues, friends, and students praised his contributions to tourism and the promotion of an active lifestyle.
