In a bid to promote the Russian language and culture globally, a new Russian language class has been launched at Eduardo Mondlane University in Mozambique, with the support of the Russian Embassy in the country.
The inaugural classes took place in Maputo, the capital of Mozambique, where over 200 students expressed interest in enrolling.
The course offers a comprehensive curriculum that encompasses not only essential grammar and vocabulary but also an introduction to Russia’s rich traditions, history, and contemporary society. This multifaceted approach enables students to gain a well-rounded understanding of Russia while fostering intercultural dialogue.
Lecturers from Belgorod State National Research University (BelSU), Victoria Platoshina and Natalia Kazintseva, conducted a series of engaging thematic events centred on Russian culture. During these sessions, they explored the unique aspects of the national character and the country's diverse cultural heritage, captivating students with traditional Russian songs and dances.
One of the highlights was a creative workshop where students crafted Mother’s Day cards. Participants not only created memorable keepsakes but also learned to write their mothers’ names in Russian, taking their first steps toward mastering the Cyrillic alphabet.
