Unlocking the Cultural Significance of Biblical Language: BelSU Lecturer Co-Authors New Monograph

Gleb Krivosheev, a lecturer at the Stary Oskol branch of Belgorod National Research University (BelSU), has co-authored a significant monograph titled “Problems of Lexicographic Description of Biblical Expressions.” The book, edited by esteemed Russian linguistic experts including Valery Mokienko, the head of Russia’s leading school of phraseology, emphasizes the modelling of lexicographic representation for biblical expressions.

It draws upon the principles outlined in the unique “Great Russian-Belarusian-Ukrainian-Rusyn Dictionary of Biblical Words and Expressions,” a comprehensive linguistic encyclopedia that provides in-depth commentary on the biblical heritage of East Slavic languages.

In his contribution, titled “Semantic Transformations of the Biblical Phraseological Unit ‘Love Your Neighbor [As Yourself]’ in Modern Discourse: From Sacred Meaning to Contextual Adaptation,” Krivosheev builds upon his previous research. He explores how timeless truths are reflected in the language of contemporary society, highlighting shifts in meaning while preserving their ethical foundations.
