For the first time, Belgorod State University has appeared in a closely watched ranking that measures what IT employers are willing to pay.
Graduates of Belgorod National Research University (BelSU) who left university between 2020 and 2025 command an average expected salary of 145,000 roubles, according to a new study that places the institution among Russia’s top twenty universities for IT specialist earnings. The ranking, compiled by the recruitment platform SuperJob together with the Roscosmos State Corporation, lists BelSU in 19th place – a debut entry that reflects growing recognition of the university’s technology programmes.
The study drew on public universities across the country, spanning both classical institutions and specialised technical schools. Researchers mined the SuperJob CV database and open sources, building a sample of at least 70 graduate CVs for each university. To keep the picture realistic, they excluded interns, junior specialists, and anyone with less than a year of professional experience. At least half of the CVs reviewed for each university belonged to graduates who had already secured jobs at salaries matching their expectations.
One notable finding: more than half of BelSU’s IT graduates expressed a desire to stay and work in Belgorod. Where applicants were seeking roles in other regions, the researchers adjusted salary expectations using SuperJob’s regional coefficients to make them comparable to Moscow labour market rates – ensuring a fair, level comparison across the country.
